The dreamer‘s Tarot developed naturally and gradually. During and after my study of graphic design I started to become more interested in photography. I was more and more curious in how to become creative with different techniques apart from just standard photography. I discovered Lomography, and bought all kinds of different old and used cameras on fleemarkets and online. In 2010, I was visiting India and really started to get creative with the camera - especially my Voigtländer Brilliant, which at the beginning had some kind of leak and created images with funny red shimmers that I very much liked. I loved the serendipidous approach of analogue photography, I was fascinated of lightpainting and developed the method I then used in the project. I started making the pictures way before I realized what I wanted to use them for. The now Major Arcana project‘s name in the beginning was „the religious thing“. I lived in Berlin at the time, and then moved to Rome, always returning to my hometown Salzburg in between, which gave me a broad range of areas and landscapes to photograph quite different styles and athmospheres in. Over the years I started travelling more and didn‘t really think a lot about the project anymore, but always had the camera with me. The images kind of shot themselves from then on, and the project developed further on its own. Around 2015 I discovered tarot and started drawing cards for me and friends. I was pretty amazed by how it works and also by the intrinsic system, symbolism and life guidance. I realized, it would be extremely fitting to create a tarot card deck out of my imagery that I already had at that time, and from then on I started shooting consciously with the intention to create a deck out of my photography. Next to that I forther practised my tarot card reading skills and whenever an opportunity to show my images presented itself somewhere, I seized it. The images, unfortunately, are only taken in four continents, even though I visited all five in this time, but for some reason took not one analogue or lightpainted photo in Australia. It‘s a little bit sad now, but I know that all continents are included in the time period of creating it, so even if there is no image in the deck, Australia as the fifth continent of shooting imagery is still somehow included in the deck‘s energy for me.
